May 2010

After the cold winds of April, the weather in Romsey could not be more lovely! It has brought into bloom the wisterias along the walls in the Hazel Garden and the pergola in Abbey House garden is swathed with blooms which smell wonderful.
We are very grateful to the people who came for our Garden Retreats: Margaret and Margaret and Sheila and Heather who worked like troopers clearing weeds and dead foliage. Sincere thanks to you all!
The baskets for the cottage and houses are now being planted up and bedding plants are coming on nicely in the greenhouse. All is looking good for a beautiful show this summer!

March 2010

What a winter we had! Snow is such a rarity in the south of England and between the cold and rain, the gardens began to look as if they would never wake up!
Happily the crocuses made an appearance so we knew all was not lost - and within days of the snow going, one brave daffodil came into flower.
It has taken until the end of the month to feel we can start the blog - but now, at last, the daffodils are in full bloom around the gardens... along with a few snowdrops which have been wonderful this year.
The greenhouse is also beginning to burst with life as the 3000 seeds that Stuart planted have started to germinate. These are flowers destined to go into the gardens for the summer.
Robin has been busy in the Provincial Garden - getting rid of winter debris and preparing the garden for the new season.
Call back for more news - and introductions to each of our gardens!
